At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada introduced temporary measures to ensure that Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) members continue to have access to their benefits. In November 2020, the PSHCP Administration Authority launched a survey on its website to gauge PSHCP members’ overall satisfaction with these temporary measures, as well as the quality and quantity of the communication related to the plan design changes.
Individuals who visited the PSHCP Administration Authority’s website from November 3rd to December 31st, 2020 were prompted to participate in the survey. Nearly 1,400 PSHCP members completed the questionnaire, thereby providing a healthy sample of data. We extend our thanks to everyone who participated in the organization’s 2020 online survey.
The survey’s highlights are as follows:
- 7 out of 10 respondents agreed that the changes introduced by the government were reasonable with an average of 7.4 out of 10.
- Psychologists, psychotherapists, and social workers represented the group of medical practitioners most accessed by members. These practitioners were also given the highest ratings for helpfulness during the pandemic.
- Awareness of the changes temporarily introduced as a result of COVID-19 was very low, with only about 1 in 5 members indicating that they were aware of the changes.
If you have questions regarding your PSHCP benefits, please contact the PSHCP Call Centre at 1-888-757-7427 (toll-free) or 613-247-5100 (in the National Capital Region). For information regarding your level of coverage, contact your compensation or pension office. We also encourage members to keep an eye on the PSHCP website for current and important information.
