This article was published before the transition to the new Plan Administrator, Canada Life. If you have any questions, contact the PSHCP Member Contact Centre at 1-855-415-4414 (toll-free anywhere in North America) or 1-431-489-4064 (call collect if you are outside North America).
If you or an eligible dependant incurred expenses in 2019, make sure you submit your claims before December 31, 2020. Sun Life must receive an electronic or paper PSHCP claim no longer than 12 months following the calendar year in which the expense was incurred and paid in full.
Claims received later than December 31, 2020 will not be accepted. Late claims will be considered only in exceptional or unavoidable circumstances such as medical or psychological incapacity. If Sun Life determines that submission was not reasonably possible within the 12 month timeframe, claims will be considered valid provided they are submitted within 18 months following the calendar year in which the expense was incurred.

Temporary Changes to the PSHCP are still in effect
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, the Government introduced temporary measures to adapt and provide support to PSHCP members. These changes include the extension of emergency travel benefits for those who travelled between January 17, 2020 and March 16, 2020, along with temporary modifications to the Medical Practitioners Benefit and to the Drug Benefit. They will remain in effect until non-critical business is authorized to resume or as indicated otherwise. Click here to read all about these temporary measures.
